Special filling methods and equipment compact the magnesium oxide tightly inside and around the resistor helix, which is then swaged under 50 tons of pressure to its maximum possible density. The result is very high dielectric strength and efficient internal heat generation. Diff-Therm castings are machined to a smooth, flat finish to ensure efficient and uniform heat conduction into the boiler plate assembly for steady vaporization of the pump fluid.

 Leybold

Watt-Flex® Cartridge Heaters are designed as direct replacements for Leybold Diffusion Pump Heaters.

The split sheath heater is designed for easy insertion into the heater tube at the base of the Leybold pump. The heater can be provided with or without the mounting bracket used to secure the heater in place.

When energized, the heater legs expand bi-laterally, making contact with the bore to maximize heat transfer to the heater tube and into the diffusion oil. When de-energized, the cartridge heater contracts for easy removal from the bore, eliminating drill outs, damage to the bore, and costly down-time.
